2nd August 2020

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I am delighted that we are able to return to worshipping together in our buildings on Sundays, however we must ensure that we do as safely as possible and in line with all the guidance that we are given by the UK Government and the Church of England.

During August we will begin with some afternoon services in order to help us test the systems we have put in place. The current 10.30am ‘Zoom Service’ will remain our main act of worship, but Holy Communion services will be held in our buildings as follows:

• Sunday August 9th 4pm, St Andrew’s, Prestwold 6pm, Holy Trinity, Barrow

• Sunday August 16th 4pm, St Mary’s, Walton 6pm, St Mary’s, Wymeswold

• Sunday August 23rd 4pm, St Andrew’s, Prestwold 6pm, Holy Trinity, Barrow

• Sunday August 30th 4pm, St Mary’s, Walton 6pm, St Mary’s, Wymeswold

After the initial trial period in August we anticipate being able to return to Sunday morning worship in all our churches, we will, however, confirm this nearer the time. These will be Holy Communion services, and we will not be restarting All Age Worship or evening services at this stage. For those who wish to continue with on-line worship, we will continue to provide this option at 10.30 each Sunday (more details will follow). The usual service times are:

• St Mary, Walton, 8.30am (1st and 3rd Sundays)

• St Andrew, Prestwold, 9.15am

• Holy Trinity Barrow, 10.30am

• St Mary, Wymeswold, 11.15am

There are several things to bear in mind before coming to a service:

• Face coverings (masks) are mandatory for all those attending places of worship from 8th August, this includes all our services. Please bring a face covering with you.

• Please use hand sanitiser on entering and exiting the building and before and after receiving communion.

• You will be asked to give your name and a contact number for ‘Track & Trace’, this will be destroyed after 21 days.

• There will be signage to follow to ensure a safe route around the buildings, the wardens and sides-people will help you follow this.

• It may not be possible to sit where you usually chose, in order to maintain social distancing, the wardens and sides-people will direct you to available seating.

• If you have printed an Order of Service for use at home, please bring this with you, copies will be available at church but you will be asked to keep these and ring them back with you each week.

• Distribution of Holy Communion will be slightly different, again the wardens and sides-people will direct you. Communion will only be distributed in one kind (bread/wafers) with no wine. You are welcome to receive Holy Communion though we understand if you would prefer not to at this time.

• Singing is not permitted, though we hope to include music where possible.

• It won’t be possible to have refreshments after the services, and we should not congregate either inside or outside the building before or after services.

I am incredibly grateful to all the members of the Leadership Team and other volunteers who have worked tirelessly to develop these plans and the necessary risk assessment and planning work to enable use of our buildings. Thank you! I really look forward to seeing you in person over the coming weeks, as we have the joy of returning to worship within our lovely buildings. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch with any of the Leadership Team. As always you remain in my prayers, may God grant you every blessing,

Yours sincerely,

Rev’d Clive R Watts

A wonderful day for a wedding!
It was with great joy that we were able to celebrate our first “post-lock-down” wedding in the Barrow and Wolds Group on Sunday 11th July.
Congratulations to Sam and Gemma, now Mr and Mrs Henson, who were married at St Mary’s Church in Wymeswold,
